Humble Bee presents the Winter Solstice Bee Ball: A Celebration to Honour the Bees.
Join us at the Cotton Factory (Mule Spinner building) to celebrate pollinators and raise funds for David Suzuki Foundation and their efforts to ban the harmful systemic pesticides in Canada, featuring music, food, drinks, honey, raffle prizes, and more!
Music brought to you by local DJ Osito (Dan Rivero). We will have food lovingly prepared by Hamilton’s own chef Johnny Blonde. Humble Bee honey tasting.
The winter solstice is the shortest day and the longest night of our year. This time is celebrated for many reasons, but we are celebrating the solstice because of the bees.
The significance of the solstice for honeybees is that this is the first day of the year that the bees become active again in their colony. The bees use the sun as a calendar and when the days start getting longer again after the solstice, the bees start getting back to work!
All funds raised at this event will go to the David Suzuki Foundation in support of their efforts to ban systemic pesticides that are harming not just honeybees, but all pollinators.
